Looking for a new way to bond with your dog, build trust, and burn off some energy? Agility training might be just what you need! We’re excited to announce that agility classes are now being offered at Paws N’ Play, led by Rebecca Williams of RW DogSports—a talented local instructor with years of experience and a passion for helping dogs and their humans thrive as a team.

What Is Dog Agility?

In the dynamic sport of agility, dogs navigate a timed course filled with obstacles like jumps, tunnels, and weave poles—guided entirely by their handler’s cues. It’s more than just fun; agility is an incredible way to:

  • Build physical and mental endurance

  • Boost your dog’s confidence

  • Improve communication between you and your pup

  • Strengthen your teamwork and relationship

  • Channel energy into something constructive and rewarding

Whether you’re dreaming of competition or simply want a new challenge to share with your dog, agility offers a positive, engaging way to grow together.

Class Levels & Details

Foundation 1: Intro to Agility

The perfect starting point for any agility team! You’ll learn:

  • Basic obedience foundations

  • Shaping behaviors

  • Cone and target work

  • Introductory equipment: bar jumps, tunnels, 2×2 weaves, travel boards, and wobble boards

Details:
4-week course – $100
Dogs must be at least 4 months old
Location: Paws N’ Play Canine Community Center or Shingle Springs Community Center Field

Foundation 2: Agility Skills Development

Building on Foundation 1, this class focuses on:

  • Handling techniques (front and rear crosses)

  • Short course sequences

  • Improved equipment familiarity

Details:
Ongoing – $25/class (paid monthly)
Prerequisite: Foundation 1
Location: Paws N’ Play, SSCC Field, or Private Agility Field in Placerville

Novice: Agility Basics in Action

Take your teamwork to the next level with:

  • Full course sequences

  • Timing and consistency on obstacles

Details:
Ongoing – $25/class (paid monthly)
Prerequisite: Foundation 2 or Instructor Approval
Location: Private Placerville Field or North Highlands

Intermediate: Agility Proficiency

For dogs already confidently running courses:

  • Advanced handling strategies

  • Complex sequencing

  • Increased challenges

Advanced: Mastering Agility

    Sundays @ 5:30 PM (Placerville)

  • AGILITY – Intermediate:
    Sundays @ 6:30 PM (Placerville)

  • TRICKS – All Levels:
    Coming Soon to East Sacramento
