Our Holiday Dog Training Program is an 8-week journey tailored to meet the specific needs of you and your dog. This program is more than just training; it’s an opportunity to deepen your connection, develop essential skills, and build a positive way of life with your dog this holiday season.

Holiday Dog Training Program Overview

Our holiday dog training program is designed to meet the unique needs of you and your dog, whether you’re working on a specific area or looking for a well-rounded training experience. Below are examples of what we might cover, but each session will be tailored specifically to your goals, so you’ll get exactly what you and your dog need.

Examples of Topics We Could Cover in Holiday Dog Training:

1. Essential Life Skills for Everyday Calm

  • Foundational skills beyond basic obedience, like calmly greeting visitors or walking together.

  • Cooperative care practices, helping your dog feel at ease with grooming, vet visits, and more.

2. Understanding Dog Language & Communication

  • Dog body language basics to help you better understand your dog’s emotions.

  • Boundary-setting for your dog to politely communicate with family members and other pets.

3. Confidence Building for Anxious or Reactive Dogs

  • Creating “safe spaces” and teaching self-soothing techniques for a more relaxed home.

  • Gradual exposure to triggers in a positive way to help your dog stay calm.

4. Socialization & Introductions to New Pets

  • Safe introductions to new pets, from holiday puppies to cats or other animals.

  • Structured play and socialization for well-rounded interactions with others.

5. Emotional Wellness: Relaxation & Self-Regulation

  • Relaxation techniques like the “settle” cue for calm behavior in busy environments.

  • Self-regulation practices, helping your dog manage excitement and wait patiently.

6. Bonding for a Happier, Connected Life Together

  • Routine rituals and quiet bonding practices to enhance your relationship.

  • Mindfulness activities, like scent games and gentle touch exercises, for deeper connection.

Each session in our holiday dog training program is an hour long, with a mix of one-on-one coaching, group practice, and structured play, all chosen to best suit your goals. Whether you need to focus on just one of these areas or want a little of everything, we’ll work together to design the perfect 8 sessions for you and your dog.

Example Schedule for Your Holiday Dog Training Program

This example schedule shows how our holiday dog training could be structured, with a mix of one-on-one sessions and guided practice. Each week is tailored to your needs, ensuring you’re equipped with both skills and confidence to work with your dog on your own.

  1. Week 1: Private Session at Paws N Play
Our first one-on-one session will focus on one of the key areas we discussed during your intake meeting, whether it’s foundational skills, socialization, or a specific challenge like reactivity. We’ll create a strong starting point for you and your dog to build on in the coming weeks.

  2. Week 2: Guided Practice Session at the Enrichment Center
This week, you’ll have access to our enrichment center, where you can practice and reinforce what we covered in Week 1. While this isn’t a one-on-one session, your trainer will be on-site to observe, offer feedback, and provide guidance as needed. This is a great opportunity for you to start working with your dog independently, building your confidence as a handler with support close by.

  3. Week 3: Private or Group Session
Depending on your goals, this may be a one-on-one or small group session. We’ll continue building on skills from the first two weeks, reinforcing progress or introducing new elements based on your dog’s needs. If we need to add a new skill or topic, we’ll adjust accordingly.

  4. Week 4: Practice & Exploration Session
Another guided practice session at the enrichment center, or, if relevant to your goals, a structured outing. This could involve working on calm behavior in a real-world environment, such as a pet-friendly café or another location to reinforce socialization skills. Your trainer will provide support and guidance, but the emphasis is on your independent work with your dog.

  5. Week 5: Private Check-in Session
We’ll meet one-on-one to assess progress, address any emerging challenges, and adjust our approach as needed. This is a chance for you to review skills and gain focused feedback, ensuring you’re on track and ready to tackle the next phase of the program.

  6. Week 6: Independent Practice Session at the Enrichment Center
In this practice session, you’ll work on previously covered skills and continue building confidence in handling your dog independently. Your trainer will be on-site for guidance, checking in periodically to provide tips or adjustments to help you stay successful, while encouraging you to take the lead.

  7. Week 7: Final Private Session
A one-on-one session to review your progress, solidify any remaining skills, and ensure you’re equipped to continue confidently. We’ll focus on any final adjustments or address lingering questions, reinforcing your dog’s skills in a supportive environment.

  8. Week 8: Self-Guided Practice & Follow-Up Review
This follow-up review offers a final chance to practice with light guidance from your trainer. The focus will be on you taking charge, reinforcing skills, and building the confidence to work with your dog independently beyond the program.
